Bodynfo:s production of instructional images and texts began in the mid 1980s when Torsten Larsson, who in his profession as physiotherapist, found that there was little useful informational material that could be used in the dialogue with his patients. He found a similar lack of material when running group courses for occupational health services and when teaching athletes and coaches. What he was looking for was material in the form of images that in a simple yet correct way described the anatomy of joints and muscles, injuries, ergonomics and different forms of training. When he tried drawing something himself, no-one understood what he wanted to illustrate… Then quite by chance, he met Bertil Nordström who is an illustrator. They made a successful partnership, with Bertil translating Torsten’s good ideas into educational illustrations. These were then completed with instructional texts written by Inger Bjernestedt, also a physiotherapist.

Their work has resulted in a great range of products: Books and posters for stretching, torso stability training, teaching and patient information material in the areas of sports injuries, lumbar, neck and shoulders problems. The educational tools have been checked and tested by colleagues and the books have been written with the help of experienced physiotherapists, naprapaths and sports teachers in their specialist fields.
The products have been greatly appreciated and customers range from physiotherapists, sports teachers and coaches to recreational runners and athletes.
Now a major initiative has been launched to promote the Sprained Foot material as an iPhone application. There are plans to make more of Bodynfo’s products available via this new and successful form of digital media.
